Isla of Garðr
Mac notch app
The notch on your Mac, turned into a calm place for what is happening now.
Isla lives in the notch at the top of a Mac screen. Most of the time it is quiet. When something happens — the charger goes in, the volume changes, music starts, a Focus begins — the island reacts, briefly, and settles again.
Open it and it becomes a small place of its own: what is playing, the day ahead, the weather, a shelf for files you are carrying between apps. Every part can be shaped to suit you, or switched off.
What it does
- It reacts
- Charging, volume, brightness, keyboard light, headphones connecting, a Focus starting — each arrives as a brief, quiet activity in the notch.
- It holds things
- Drag a file toward the notch and park it there; drag it out again into any app, or send it with AirDrop.
- It knows your day
- Now Playing for Music and Spotify, Calendar, Reminders and Weather, one gesture away.
- It tidies the bar
- Hide menu-bar clutter, and reach the frontmost app’s menus from the notch when the bar is hidden.
- It is yours
- Light styles, colours that follow your album art, which panels appear and in what order, glass or solid — all of it adjustable.
The Isla mark
- Summit
- A focused personal place.
- Halo
- The wider environment around that place.
- Core
- Continuity with Garðr.
- Light path
- Access, attention and purposeful interaction.
The Core rises above the summit — attention and possibility held over a personal place.
